Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Sarawak, Kuching The proposed project is to build the Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri Sarawak (Sarawak’s Education Department) located at Salak Land District, Ulu Sipat, Jalan Bako, Kuching covering 12 acre land funded by The Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia (The Ministry of Malaysia’s Education). The project includes main office building with an auditorium, a guard house and M&E building. The design of this 5 storey building is to create the firm image for our education systems thus a solid shape such as bulky-fan-like were applied. First, the site planning was integrated with the natural environment and takes advantage on existing site conditions and maximising panoramic view. The main office building has incorporated energy efficient feature and for that reason the fan shape were related. From the building orientation where it is paralleled to east-west and its opening facing north south, the light colours of the building are utilized to reduced heat gains through the walls and the used of double roof to further reduced heat gain. The flow of the interior of the building is deliberately open space and the positioning of the workstations was carefully maximized for every unit to give a functional and a good working environment for the JPNS staffs and the directors. |
